Derrick Diazoni

I was born and raised in the Bay Area of California. For college, I moved to SoCal to attend the University of California, Irvine, where I majored in Dance. I later moved abroad to earn my Master's in Musical Theatre at the University of Surrey in Guildford, England. For the better part of a decade, while studying or on leave, I worked for the Walt Disney Company as a performer in their theme parks and on tours all around the world. I also spent a couple of years between college and grad school living in Nevada, where I danced nightly on the Vegas Strip.

After grad school I moved to New York City, where I lived for over a decade. I worked as a licensed real estate salesperson for most of that time, selling luxury apartments in Manhattan's newest residential skyscrapers. During the pandemic, I branched out on my own with my first investment property and small business venture: Storybook Suites, a vacation rental property in Davenport, Florida, less than 10 miles from Walt Disney World.

After the pandemic and the success of Storybook Suites, I vowed to work only for myself from then on. The financial side of real estate always fascinated me, and—believe it or not—even as a dancer my best subject in school was always math. I really just love to solve problems and crunch numbers. I studied for my mortgage license in 2023 and started originating loans in early 2024. I was thrilled to join the local, Brooklyn-based brokerage Go Rascal in early 2025.

I finally bought a house in the suburbs in 2024 and moved to Montclair, New Jersey, but you will still find me in NYC most weekends—either seeing a Broadway show or hanging with friends in the West Village somewhere near the Stonewall Inn. If you're lucky, you might even catch me singing a song or two at one of my favorite piano bars. I also love to travel, so if I'm not in the tristate area then I'm either out of the country or I'm visiting friends and family in California, Florida, Nevada, or any of the 13 states where I'm licensed to originate mortgages.
